Lynn Stegner, author of The Half-Life of Guilt, will discuss her work with fellow author Nan Doyal at the Johann Fust Community Library in Boca Grande, Florida on January 17, 2025.

Stegner’s acclaimed novels and story collections have drawn comparisons to the works of Margaret Atwood, Barbara Kingsolver, Alice Munro, and John Updike. Now in her new novel, The Half-Life of Guilt, she tells the story of Clair Bugato and Mason Comstock. Together they journey to the world’s largest saltworks in Baja California, where a proposed expansion threatens the California gray whale population, recently come back from the brink of extinction.

Nan Doyal is the author of Dig Where you Are, a book about the potential in each of us to make a difference in the world by simply taking what we already know how to do and using it to make a meaningful change for the good. In 2008 she began a journey to re-connect with people she had met in the world who were solving problems in creative and sustainable ways. She recounts their stories and what she learned in Dig Where You Are: How One Person’s Effort Can Save a Life, Empower a Community and Create Meaningful Change in the World.
