This summer, choreographer and UNM Press author Dana Tai Soon Burgess will serve as a Teaching Artist in Residence at the National Dance Institute New Mexico.
Burgess, renowned globally as the “Diplomat of Dance,” is a leading American choreographer, arts administrator, and cultural figure. In 1992, he founded the Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company, the premier modern dance company in Washington, DC.
On July 27 NDI will present a performance featuring choreography by Burgess, performed by the Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company and NDI New Mexico’s advanced students.
Following the performance, Burgess will read from his book, Chino and the Dance of the Butterfly.
